Pegasus is a divine winged horse from Greek mythology, the offspring of the sea god Poseidon and the gorgon Medusa. He was later the steed of the hero Bellerophon. He is one of the most recognisable figures in Greek mythology, and has appeared in numerous adaptations of Greek myths, often as the steed of other Greek heroes (e.g. Perseus in Clash of the Titans and Hercules in Disney's Hercules).
In fantasy media and role-playing games, the name pegasus is often applied to a species of winged horses instead of an individual. For example, in Dungeons & Dragons, pegasi are chaotic good celestial creatures.
